The Wolverton Secret Garden Society

The Gardeners

At root the Secret Garden has been a community project.  We’ve needed a great deal of professional expertise but it wouldn’t have happened without local voluntary enthusiasm and commitment.

We reckon that more than 40 people have given their time voluntarily to help get the Secret Garden to its present state but there are about 17 people who have been going to work most Saturday mornings since July 2003.

It’s amazing but in those two years it’s only rained once or twice – someone is smiling on us!

Most of us have had little or no gardening experience and we don’t think we can quite believe how everything has turned out.

We range from teenagers to old age pensioners  and the best part of every Saturday morning  is the tea break when we sit down together to talk and laugh. We have made so many wonderful friends through doing this.

And we haven’t finished yet. It’s not an exclusive club – please come and join us between 10 and 1 any Saturday morning, you’ll be so welcome.
