Meet the Ancestors
Two new people took up residence Secret Garden in 2007. There on the site of the living room of one of the original houses that occupied the site sit an old couple watching the television. The houses were demolishedin the late 60s – and it seems almost as if the couple were turned to stonewhen the demolition took place nearly 50 years ago, because the TV is not a modern day flat screen, but an old 9 inch.

In fact this scene is the creation of a group of Art students from Radcliffe School, assisted by artists Bill Billings and Paul Smith. On Tuesday 30th October 2007at 1pm the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Mike Barry, met these new residents at a special ceremony attended by representatives from the funders – Creative Partnerships and the Baker Tilley Fund at Milton Keynes Community Foundation- local firms who helped with free donation of materials – MADCAP, Avanti tiles, Places for People and P Bird and Son- and members of the Wolverton Secret Garden Society who commissioned the work.
Sadly it was the last piece of art work that Bill Billings was involved in before his death in December 2007.
